The first installment of the Swahili Literary Festival is set to happen from March 01st to 03rd 2019 at The SwahiliPot Hub in Mombasa County.
This year’s theme is CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENT, informed by the need to celebrate and honor prominent individuals from the Swahili Coast who have passed on, leaving behind a legacy in form of works that have continued to promote Swahili Cultural Heritage.
The activities are curated around engaging different art forms in relation to Swahili Cultural heritage and how some forms are in conversation with one another. Panels will bring together prose, verse and music forms attempting to situate the writer or artist and his/her role in social activism.
The Festival being an all-inclusive event primarily in the Swahili Coast, will rotate yearly, visiting other towns in the coast.
